The Air Conditioning Contractors of America's (ACCA) HVAC Quality Installation Specification, and is recognized as an American National Standard. These industry best practices help ensure that your new equipment is:

  • Correctly sized to meet your home's needs
  • Connected to a well-sealed duct system
  • Operating with sufficient airflow in the system
  • Installed with the proper amount of refrigerant

Whether you are installing a new system or replacing existing heating and cooling equipment, installing equipment properly is essential to getting the best performance.

Components of a Quality Installation

Proper Sizing of Equipment

Installing the right size equipment for your home is essential to getting the best performance for your heating and cooling equipment and maintaining the comfort you deserve. Some believe that bigger is better when buying new equipment, but a system actually operates best when each component is properly sized. Oversized equipment may cycle on and off more frequently, which can make the home less comfortable and shorten the equipment life. At Comfort Star we  will take measurements of your home then do calculations to determine the appropriate size for your air conditioner, furnace or heat pump.

Sealing Ducts

Ducts circulate air from the furnace, central air conditioner or heat pump throughout the house. Often ducts have damage or poor connections that leak the hot or cold air and waste a lot of energy. Sealing ducts can greatly improve the efficiency of your heating and cooling system.

Optimizing Air Flow

To operate well, a heating or cooling system needs to have the proper volume of air flow. If air flow is too high or too low , it may make the home less comfortable and increase utility bills  for optimal performance.

Proper Refrigerant Charge (Central Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps Only)

It is important for an air conditioner or heat pump to have the correct amount of refrigerant, or correct refrigerant charge. An improperly charged system may consume more energy and provide less dehumidification. T Comfort star we  will test refrigerant charge and adjust if necessary to make your home comfortable and avoid waste on your utility bills.

Comfort Star Air Conditioning and Heating Systems

Admit it: You probably don't think about your comfort system until it stops working and you become either too cold or too hot. It's human nature to put something in the back of your mind as long as it doesn't cause a problem and stays in the background. You might think of your heating and cooling system as just a "box" that can be turned on or off in order to control your temperature. But your Comfort Star air conditioning system is a lot more than that. It doesn't just control temperature. It has an impact on the air that you breathe, on moisture and mold growth, the amount of energy that you use and money that you spend, and most importantly, on you and your family's health. Don't ignore your heating and cooling system. Your HVAC system is a great big (and valuable) mechanical system just like your automobile. You know that you need to keep your car tuned up and get your oil changed every 3,000 miles. So why would someone assume they can ignore their comfort system? You can't! Ignore it, and it will break down more, need replacement sooner, COST YOU MORE MONEY throughout its shortened lifespan, and most importantly, it might impact your health. Whether you are building a new home or upgrading to a new, more efficient heating and cooling system for your present home or office, our new HVAC systems have a capacity, efficiency and price that will suit your needs.

This is how the evaporation cycle in an air conditioner works:

  1. The compressor compresses cool Freon gas, causing it to become hot, high-pressure Freon gas (red in diagram).

  2. This hot gas runs through a set of coils so it can dissipate its heat, and it condenses into a liquid.

  3. The Freon liquid runs through an expansion valve, evaporating to become cold, low-pressure Freon gas (blue).
